1st Day of School Welcome Speech

June 10, 2009

The following is the message SCLC President Engr. Crisantine N. Mari read last Monday, June 8, during the flag ceremony.

A beautiful morning to all!

Let us start first by saying Hello, my name is ____________ to the 4 persons/classmates around you while shaking their hands.

Good, now that we have welcomed each other I hope those of you who are naturally shy  will boost your confidence, and give you a feeling of belonging, of being a family.

If we come to school everyday and shake hands with our classmates, teachers, our guard, schoolmates we will have made a pleasant start of our day in school. I encourage the parents/guardians, teachers  and everybody to do the same. A simple good morning, a smile, a little hello does not cost anything but gains a lot. We are all beautiful when we smile.

Welcome to the SCLC. We are happy that you have chosen us in your quest for formative or basic education. Your parents know how important education is and that is why you are here, to learn, to experience, to equip you with knowledge and prepare your future, your destiny.

You and SCLC are now partners. It is a mutual relationship and we as the new Administrators of SCLC will try to meet our obligations and we expect the same from you pupils, parents and guardians. Our success is our working together to achieve this goal. WE MUST NOT FAIL!

Let me also take this opportunity to remind you to stay safe and healthy. Lately, the H1N1 Virus or the Swine Flu have been causing health problems and have even caused death to some people. I strongly recommend that you take preventive measures ie washing your hands thoroughly, if you sneeze use the side of your elbows and not in your hands, and if you are sick please stay at home and recuperate as it may infect your classmates, too. We will also continue to introduce your morning calesthenics / exercises to keep you fit physically and mentally.

Another reminder is about SECURITY. Please be wary and avoid going with strangers. Period! Lately there have been incidents of kidnappings, and also cases of children being taken away and their kidneys, and other organs are removed. These are scary and dangerous times indeed. If you are in a situation, the best thing is to run away, make loud noises and attract attention to discourage would be kidnapper or attacker.

To everyone welcome to SCLC. This day promises a good beginning in our lives and I pray that the Divine Providence be with us this school year 2009 – 2010.

Mabuhay!
